Spoiler: click to toggle On September 10, 2007, seven iVIPs who thought the world needed more English subbed Big Bang videos got together and formed a subteam, thus theREALiVIPSUBS was born. First was the creation of our Invisionfree forum. - http://z3.invisionfree.com/iVIP_subbers/ You may have been there before. It's only purpose was to be the place for us to work on our projects. Unlike this forum, we didn't give anyone access to it but subteam members. It's now offline and we keep it as our archive forum. Next was to decide on the team name. Personally I loved the name BIG BANGIN SUBS but since YGBB's subteam had been using that name we had to pick something original. So we thought about our purpose. We all agreed on one thing. We were serious about subbing Big Bang videos. We'd really do it and not just talk about doing it but never get anything done. That's where theREAL part of our name came from. We were going to do this and we were going to do it FOR REAL. iVIP which stands for International VIP was thought up by Monica (iMonTOP), so then we had theREALiVIP. Added subs to the end of that and that's how our name was born: theREALiVIPSUBS. ^^ After we got our name, we thought we should have a slogan to clearly demonstrate our purpose. We didn't want anyone to misunderstand theREALiVIPSUBS to mean that WE thought we were the real iVIPs. At that time, a few of us had had enough "iVIP drama" so we definitely didn't want anymore, lol. So we came up with three choices: -Really subbing Big Bang videos SINCE 2007 -Really subbing Big Bang videos for iVIPs SINCE 2007 -Subbing Big Bang videos for iVIPs SINCE 2007, for real SINCE 2007 is capitalized because it's a play off the title of BB's Vol. 1 album - SINCE 2007. For our slogan, it was the 2nd choice that we picked. "Really Subbing Big Bang Videos For iVIPs SINCE 2007" It was chosen because it clearly demonstrated that our purpose was to sub videos for iVPs and that we were really doing it! Not just talking about it. You may be thinking, who is this "we" I keep referring to. It started out with Se7en of us. Me - DAEnaya (aka anaya) iMonTOP (aka mon5482) iluxxx Xroxy_proxyX ahmiee29 (aka yma18) t.yama the7REAL What we knew about subbing videos? Very little. Yet we were on a mission to sub Big Bang's videos and we wouldn't let anything stop us. Armed with 1 translator on our side and a heart full of love for Big Bang we attempted to sub Big Bang's 8/31 Hip Hop Asia Mnet Interview. Part 2 - New members, new releases. Vanessa (iluxxx) and Monica took charge in setting up the forum in the beginning as Admins and it wasn't long before I joined them in leading the team and running the forum. Vanessa provided us some basic tutorials on subbing that she found online. I went through each one pretty much teaching myself everything about timing, typesetting, and encoding. It was a lot of trial and error before I got things right but it was also fun. So how did we decide to have the Mnet Interview as our 1st project? It started out as just practice for me. g yong ee~ @ YGBB had translated most of the show so I used her transcript to hone my newbie subbing skills. Once I was confident I could perform the task of timing, typesetting, and encoding, I suggested to the rest of the team to have the video as our first release. We knew how everyone loved the interview when it first came out so we thought it a perfect one to sub. Vanessa did most of the job of filling in the missing translations of g yong ee~'s transcript, t.yama did the grammar check, Xroxy_proxyX did the editing, I did timing, typesetting, encoding, and a little of the spot translating, ahmiee29 did the quality check, and the7REAL provided us with the i-VIP logo to use on our videos. On September 26th we opened our official Youtube and Veoh accounts and on September 28th we had our 1st subbed release. We opened our thread @ YGBB and Monica posted download links. The 1st release was a success! By the time we had our 2nd release on October 9th, our team had grown to 18 members. One was the awesome graphic designer natyx3. For our 2nd release, Hongki's Manwon Happiness Cut she gave us the idea of having banners with our releases. She and our other designers began providing us with awesome banners to post along with our download and streaming links when we distributed our subs at other forums. Another new member was a knowledgeable subber from YGBB's subteam, JUHJUH. She taught us the basics of karaoke timing and karaoke styling so finally on November 30th we were able to have our 1st English subbed/karaoke mv release, Nemo feat. Daesung - Now We. U might be wondering why we chose a non-Big Bang video as our 1st release. I'll tell you our philosophy on MVs. By the time our team started, Big Bang already had so many MVs released and instead of starting from Big Bang's 1st music video and forever playing catch up to get to the latest, we decided to start from the latest video and work our way backwards. We Belong Together had already been subbed by YGBB's subteam so that was another factor why we didn't start from the beginning. At the time, the Nemo video was the latest one that had released and because Daesung had a big part in the video that is what we subbed 1st. We do plan to make subtitles for ALL of Big Bang's MVs. When we finish with the new ones, we start on an older one. Whether they have already been subbed by others or not, I just think it's proper of a subteam to have their own complete collection of the artist's music videos so do look forward to our future releases of BB's old and new MVs! So that's what the deal with Big Bangin Subs....hehe. I just now learned what the "theREAL" part of our logo means. At first, I thought it was pertaining to BB's 1st concert The REAL...lol.. Props to our precious Se7en pioneers who made theREALiVIPSUBS happened. I can say that I'm proud to be a part of it. CONGRATULATIONs AND CELEBRATIONs for our 1st Anniversary
